Hiring Assistant Product Designer – Baby & Children’s Accessories

7AM Enfant is seeking a talented and experienced assistant product designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be pro-active with a great style and sophisticated design sensibilities. We are looking for a highly organized and resourceful individual who can assist in driving new product designs and concepts as well as additions to our current children’s outerwear collection. Role responsibilities include creating thematic concept boards, developing entire collections and project managing the launch of new products from idea conception to production.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain a strong sense of 7AM Enfant aesthetic throughout the design of all product collections.
Initiate and execute collection themes.
Shop print studios, fabric and trim mills to define newest fabric and trends direction for the season.
Select color palettes and approve lab dips.
Create flat sketch utilizing freehand sketching as well as Photoshop/Illustrator for new products and enhancements to existing products.
Start & complete CAD.
Prepare and send tech packs for samples and production.
Follow each design through the product development process ensuring all timelines are met.
Correspond with factories, agents and QC.
Develop, approve and maintain records of all pattern, wash, weight, fiber content, quality, and overall appearance of both knits and woven fabrics, trims, artworks, lab dips, strike offs fabrics and bulk fabrics.
Ensure timely bulk production deliveries from factories to distribution centers.
Manage all phases of production for licensed programs.

QUALITIES/SKILLS: 

Able to design around concepts and design flat sketches.
Excellent hand Illustration skills are a definite plus.
Excellent color sense, keen eye and great attention to detail.
Sophisticated taste with a passion and focus on creating quality products.
Understanding of garment construction specs and fit.
Understanding of the baby/children market and end users.
Hands-on, articulate, inquisitive, creative and determined to create high-quality work.
Creative problem solving for all design/production issues.
Ability to deliver on projects without supervision.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
Ability to delegate and oversea interns and graphic designers.
Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
Excellent organizational, and presentation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must possess ability to handle several tasks at once.
Self-motivated and diligent worker who takes pride of her/his work.
Proactively seek out opportunities to maximize the business.
Must be hard worker with a strong work ethic.

REQUIREMENTS: 

Must be a college graduate with 3-5 years experience in textile product design.
Experience in children’s clothing/industrial design and product development project management.
A strong portfolio of previous work.
Expert skills with CAD fashion software, Adobe Creative Suite, illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft office.
Must be efficient with tech packs, fittings, comments and corrections.
Must have experience with overseas factories.

Compensation commensurate with experience.
